For playing live or recording, it's important that your guitar as close to perfectly in tune as possible.

Very few people have a perfect ear, so most (if not all) guitarists use tuners before they record or perform live.

Some tuners, however, are more accurate than others. This is important to pay attention to when shopping for the one that's best for you.

If you play live often, it's also important that you're able to see your tuners indicators while on stage in the dark or with bright daytime light present.

To help you through your shopping process, we asked guitarists what their favorite tuners are, and why they love them.

Enjoy!

I recommend either the Boss TU-3 or the Korg Pitchblack.

What makes them awesome?

Accuracy, accuracy, accuracy. Both of these tuners are durable, affordable, but most of all, accurate to a cent. I've owned both and couldn't be happier with their performance. I currently have the Korg on my board. However, both are easy to read onstage, under lights or out doors in the daytime. The Korg is set like an oscilloscope. The Boss has a couple different setting capabilities.

What's the best guitar tuner?

Korg Toneworks DTR-2 rack tuner

What makes it awesome?

I'm a big fan of the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" rule of thumb. I don't know that this tuner is necessarily the best, but I've been using mine for almost 10 years at this point. It still reads an input very quickly so this tuner gets major durability points from me.

What makes it awesome?

Ease of use, of course. It's also pivots so it's very easy to read. I've yet to change my battery. Other than that, I can tune my bass in.a matter of seconds.
